Another sunny day meant another day exploring a new city. We hopped on a bus and headed an hour south to Heidelberg - a cute, historical place with beautiful streets, old bridges and a renaissance castle.
Not only was the town beautiful, but it held an adorable little story of a "Student's Kiss"; according to the legend, the Austrian Queen Elizabeth was spotted kissing a student from Heidelberg. The baker who witnessed that kiss decided to create chocolates in memory of that event, which are now famous! We seriously searched the entire city (with google's help of course), but came up empty with sold out stores and closed shops. I was not impressed, considering 75% of my desire to check out this city was because of the chocolate! That just means I have to go back and try again.

Up at the top within the Castle walls, we found an amazing German pharmacy. You could just picture the craziness of all the people shopping, and just like Phoebe said in 'Friends', "You can just smell the opium!"

Along with the amazing views, the Castle holds the largest wine barrel in the world - "the Great Heidelberg Tun"! Apparently, it can hold over 200,000 litres of wine.... that's insane!

And this probably doesn't surprise anyone, but we also looked up the best brewery in town.... that title was held by "Vetter", and I completely agree! I enjoyed probably one of my favourite Wheat Beers I've ever tasted. I'd definitely recommend checking this amazing microbrewery out if you're ever in the area!
