I fell hard and quickly for Switzerland, but this adventure just solidified it for me. Pretty early on in our time living in Switzerland, Lucas and I decided to venture out to see some of the Alps. It was still so summery and green, so we wanted to take advantage of the amazing weather! We headed out to an area called Alpstein, which essentially refers to the "Alps before the Alps". It was a very short hike, but we were mostly going to get outside and see some Swiss views... that's exactly what we got!
Firstly, our drive there just set the tone, as we had a bit of a traffic jam due to cows being herded on the road. Once we started making our way up to the lake at the first top, we both said to each other "no wonder Matt and Christina (Lucas's sister and her husband) love hiking!" It was seriously amazing, and so worth it, regardless of my poor cardio abilities at the time.
This place quickly became one of my favourite places to take visitors! You just have to see why...
