Alberobello, Italy is quite possibly the most unique town I've ever explored. Before Lucas and I headed back to Canada for our summer months, we decided to go down to a few southern Italy towns for one last adventure. I had read and seen a few travel blogs about Alberobello and almost believed it to be a factitious town... but it was not!
Once we made it down to Bari for the weekend on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, we decided to make it a day trip to Alberobello by taking a 2 hour bus ride down to the quaint, hopefully real, town. As we found our way to the first view that looked over the entire town, we knew we were in for a treat! I almost couldn't contain my excitement to start exploring. These hut-looking buildings are incredible, even more-so in person, and I couldn't believe this was an actual village. Most all of these huts, which had been homes, have now turned into shops of all kind, restaurants, or even wine cellars. It was amazing weaving in and out of all these streets. We also later found out that the buildings were all built in this unique hut design in order for the original owners to avoid paying taxes! How hilarious/sneaky?
We continued wandering around during our beautiful afternoon, finding snacks and beverages along the way, and finished the day with a cold Prosecco while we overlooked the main street. Words can't describe this adorable town, so just see for yourself...
