Sketch London, UK
Okay, so this high tea was nothing like any other high tea. Alex, a friend of mine who is nothing short of fabulous and all things classy, had Sketch on her list for quite some time. I'm so glad she suggested it because it might be one of my favourite things we did on our British trip! While it was more than a pretty penny (or pound), it gave us an experience to remember from its whimsical decor and outfits on all the servers to its delicious food and beautifully poured Champagne.
You begin by walking into this gorgeous winter wonderland's foyer - there are multiple different themed high teas within this building. A cozy reading room high tea, another room that honestly reminded me of Alice in Wonderland, our high tea held in the Gallery room, and one more room upstairs, which we actually didn't venture up to see since we were so enthralled by our own! We were seated in between all the hustle and bustle as the room was full of excited groups to try this fancy tea time. We were welcomed by our server and introduced to the menu with a variety of teas and the set food menu that was on its way. The amazing thing about this high tea was that you could choose a regular Christmas Afternoon tea time or a special Champagne Afternoon tea, so of course we chose the Champagne tea menu - we were going all out!
Our first course began with an adorable plate of quail's egg seated on top of a light cream beside a small portion of caviar, which was seriously "moan-worthy" of how delicious it was. If it weren't for the noise all around the gallery, I'm sure someone would have told us to shut up with how often we commented on its amazingness. Next we were overwhelmed with an assortment of finger sandwiches (my favourite was between the smoked salmon and cream on a light biscuit or the curry chicken finger sandwich), and light pastries. Since we were told we could have endless refills of any treat, we decided to take them up on that offer and reload our beautiful plates! We then were offered a plain or raisin scone (delightfully warm and fluffy) served with clotted cream, fig and strawberry marmalade. It was all just as delicious as it sounds! We topped off the amazing spread with a light, typical tea time cake that seriously melted in our mouths - a friend described it as a fluff ball sliding down her throat. It was that light!
Honestly, this place was just such an experience. Even the bathrooms of gift-wrapped giant eggs as each individual stall provided us with a unique and amazing experience! I know it might be pricey for some, but if you're ever in London and dying to find an experience that will be set apart from them all, this is your opportunity!
